I've always found the tanuki to be one of my favorite dusty corners of folklore. It's very distasteful to westerners for obvious reasons, which is a shame because Pom Poko was my favorite Ghibli movie.
Muk & Mutant: Thanks for stopping by!Osmosis: Seeing statues of these little, furry animals all over Kyoto was refreshing. Their designs (balls and all) were displayed with complete innocence. US culture has become so censor-driven (without thought most of the time) that I'm enjoying drawing and displaying this wholesomely-edgy Japanese myth.
